Smiling lines, or laugh lines, are fine wrinkles which appear in the mid cheek, especially in Caucasian women after the age of 50. They will be accentuated with sun exposure, smoking or even the lack of regular skin care. These fine wrinkles create small vertical and parallel lines in the cheeks that increase when smiling or laughing.
TREATMENT
Smiling lines can be difficult to treat. They are equivalent to scars that accentuate over time. In addition, the deeper they are the less effective is the treatment.
This treatment developed by Dr Trevidic (see News), uses hyaluronic acid in a “multilayer” technique, that is also managed with a peeling.
This “multilayer” technique begins with a first injection using a cannula. This gently disperses a small amount of very fluid hyaluronic acid, which enhances the skin without it being visible and provides a first stage which prevents the skin from folding and marking.
A fortnight later, an ultra-superficial injection technique called ‘Blanching’ is used to inject very small amounts of the hyaluronic acid that lifts each of the remaining lines.
Finally, an intermediate peel (see News) is done, preferably in less sunny seasons, which smooths the rest of the skin.
