Loss of volume
As we age but maintain our weight, the middle third of the face has a tendency to lose volume. Volume loss accentuates wrinkles and causes the face to appear tired and unhealthy. Traditional facelifts do not address the volume issue and have little chance of improving appearance due to volume loss.
The phenomenon begins at 35 and becomes more obvious over time. We lose our baby fat. Just take a look at your baby pictures! In order to fight this process, our practice provides volume restoration.
Volume restoration can be performed using cosmetic medicine techniques such as (SubQ) injections of concentrated hyaluronic acid, or by using cosmetic surgery techniques involving fat transfer (see the chapter on surgery).
SubQ injections take place using local anaesthesia in the doctor's office. The procedure takes 30 minutes and provides instant results in cheek plumpness. The product can also be used to increase volume on cheekbones and chin.
There will be constant bruising for 4 or 5 days. It is wise to refrain from important social engagements for a few days.
Results last for about 10 months.
